Orlando bound
Well, it’s official. I submitted my resignation to Georgia Tech this morning. My last day will be the 26th, we’ll drive down on the 29th, and I start working the new job on the 1st.
I’m very thankful to Valerie for being ok with moving to Florida. I didn’t realize how much I missed being down there until … well, yesterday, really. I left the state in 1989 and, except for a week every other month in 1992/93, I haven’t been back.
— Started this post yesterday. Such is life.

Interesting bit about what most people today call the avocado.
The Beast Below
Last week’s Doctor Who included this poem.
The men above were deep asleep,
While greater love lies further deep,
This dream must end,
This world must know,
That we all depend on the beast below.
It’s beautiful and creepy at the same time.
Flock Test
This post is being made using the built in blog editor in Flock. Flock is a social media enhanced browser based on mozilla.

OK, this post WAS made using Flock but it dorked up the link. I’ll see if I can figure out why.
- Figured it out. I put ” instead of ‘ in the link code. Though there should be a way to insert links automatically.
More from Eyjafjallajokull
Check out these pictures of Eyjafjallajokull. They are absolutely amazing.
Free graphics
This link is to the mobile page but that’s ok. This is a mini-review of some free graphics programs. http://m.sitepoint.com/blogs/2010/04/16/eight-3d-modeling-graphics-applications-available-for-free/

The only reason for this post is to put the palm tree pic online. The Gravitar site can’t upload from my G1 phone. This will get me a url to use.
Upgrade
One of the requirements for WordPress 2.9.2 is MySQL 5. I was running MySQL 4.something. I like running the latest versions for security and features reasons. I know they will eventually stop supporting older versions of WordPress. My host doesn’t have a way to migrate from MySQL 4 to 5 so I created this site. My plan is to use the export/import feature of WordPress. I’ve gone through the process twice. The first time only posts from 2007 and back made it. The second time it got up to September 2009. I’ll try again soon. Hope it works. I’ll have to manually import posts otherwise.
