Pat’s at it again

Televangelist Calls for Chavez’ Death
Pat Robertson said on the 700 Club Monday night that the US should assassinate “President” Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. Can’t really say I dissagree with him. Well, I don’t think the US should do it but I don’t think it would be such a bad thing if the citizens of Venezuela were to do it. I have to say that the article is pretty good. It’s not too slanted one way or the other. There are two passages about what Pat has done and said in the past:

Robertson, 75, founder of the Christian Coalition of America and a former presidential candidate, accused the United States of failing to act when Chavez was briefly overthrown in 2002.

and

Robertson has made controversial statements in the past. In October 2003, he suggested that the State Department be blown up with a nuclear device. He has also said that feminism encourages women to “kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.”

He’s a fruitcake but notice that the article doesn’t mention he was a Republican candidate. I wonder if Boortz is right and the media at large starts to make it look like Pat’s a big shot in the Bush White House.

Gas prices and cut corners

This article is about how a few people are changing their habits because of the price of gas. I want to point out one line from the article.

In 2002, the average low-income American spent about $750, or 8% of his or her annual $9,000 income, on gas. In 2005, gas will eat up about $1,000, or 11% of that person’s yearly income, says Mark Cooper, research director for the Consumer Federation of America.

$9,000 per year salary? That comes to $4.33 per hour. Even in 2002, I don’t think so. Students, sure. But who would try to live on that on their own? Let alone support a family. They have to be including people who can’t or won’t work full time to get that figure.

Hot for teacher…again

Another teacher just can’t keep her…err…hands..off one of her students. The best line from the article:

Hannah Grice’s fling was exposed when her husband found the schoolboy hiding in a wardrobe at their home.
