Apple to Use Intel Microprocessors Beginning in 2006

This may or may not come as a surprise. It certainly makes sense. Intel and AMD chiops are getting faster and faster and using less energy per clock cycle than anything IBM has been able to produce. And to all the fan boys out there griping about people running Windows on computers with Apple logos, so what? They are still going to have to buy it from Apple. That also means they’ll be buying a copy of Mac OS X. So what if they wipe it to run Windows. Besides, I bet anything Steve will put some peice of hardware in it that requires Mac to run right. I know I would. Besides, don’t we want OS X to run on the fastest, cheapest hardware around? And it’s not the first time Apple’s switched processors.

“Our goal is to provide our customers with the best personal computers in the world, and looking ahead Intel has the strongest processor roadmap by far,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “It’s been ten years since our transition to the PowerPC, and we think Intel’s technology will help us create the best personal computers for the next ten years.”

I couldn’t agree more!! I wonder if a lot of the time, people don’t buy Apple just because it’s “different,” and they can say they’re not conforming. The second you put something *GASP* versatile in something that typically caters to typically-graphically-leaning computers, the second some people complain about it not being “different” anymore. Apple isn’t selling out. They’re growing with the industry.
