I’m in Apalachacola, FL. I came down with my brother-in-law Dave to pick up his boat. We drove down last night and were up before dawn (almost). The boat is in the water at the dock right now. Last time she was in the water the transom cracked and just about sank the boat. The guy who did the repairs did a great job. If the weather is clear, and right now that’s iffy, we’ll go out and run the boat.
It’ almost 3 o’clock. Weather cleared enough to go. We were out an hour and a half or so when the thunder started. We weren’t very far out so we stayed. Then there was a flash of lightning. It was pretty far off but we headed back anyway. We were going full speed when the engine RPMs shot up. Dave yanked back on the throttle. He eased the throttle back up and we felt the prop start slipping. We had to idle the rest of the way in.
7:06 AM and we’re on our way home. I’ll post this once we’re back in cell coverage.
Some pictures from the trip. First up is a truck we saw on the way down.

The next two are of an alligator that was in the river. We figure it was about 9 or 10 feet long.
